This question is more important for women. I have seen budhi mais calling sister to women half their age.

when i became a mother myself i started calling other's kid as beti and beta :D

when one do feel "Mummta" or 'Bippta" for youngers ;)

Depends on the ristha if you have young nieces and nephews you can be a teenager and call them beti/beta, however, I personally would not call anybody beti/beta unless I was the age of their mother or I know them virtue of rishta that would require this of me.
