When do you start to tell people you’re pregnant? I’ve heard that the first three months are the most critical and that’s why most people keep it quiet… but when you do get the results…don’t u feel like telling the whole world? is that really bad luck or something?

Misscarriages are quite common in first three months so may be its better to wait. But telling close relatives like parents and siblings is okay IMHO.

Yes, its the first 12 weeks that are the most tentative. Once you get past the 12-week mark, things are usually fine. So, in the very early days, tell those who you'd feel comfortable with knowing if you should miscarry. If you tell the world at the very first then you'll be telling them of any bad outcome too. If you;re ok with that then no prob telling the world, I dont think its bad luck or anything. Its just personal yeah? And if you miscarry, as common as it is, you'll start getting all kinds of advice and worried looks, you'll be gossip fodder etc.

and i used to think that its a desi thing to stay hush hush until the first 3 months are over
but was quite surprised to find it a part of danish society too. :o

Teh first time we didnt tell anyone and someone asked my MIL if there were any good news. She couldnt lie and said yes. We miscarried the next week and it was hard explaining to eveyone what had happened.
The next time, we waited until our first ultrasound which was at week 8 or 10 i think and when we heard a heart beat, we told everyone. Some folks like to share their good news in the very begining so its totally upto the person. We only shared with our mothers in teh very begining.

What everyone else said. It's typically advised (even on babycenter.com) to wait maybe just past 3 months to make the announecement just so you are in the clear. I did tell my mother and only close friends, cuz hey they will only make dua for you. This time around I didn't really go around telling anyone except friends. If someone asks, I say yes im preggo, but im not about to call up my extended khandaan to make any announcements.

I told my family members right away, like the minute I found out! Friends I told after 3 months. I also told my boss right away.

We waited till 8 weeks to tell parents, told my brother first day though, he's my closest friend. Her coworkers pretty much figured it out being so in tune to all the symptoms, the constant bathroom visits, the not drinking coffee all of a sudden, a big one in her profession is getting sick during a laparoscopic procedure, many a resident has been outed when they got sick doing a lap. surgery :D
