When did you first wear a sari?

I soo love saris. They look so elegant. I have yet to wear one- but when I do, i dont want to expose midriff. So ill wear a long fitted blouse. A sari is what I am leaving to wear after I get married. So that I do something new after shaadi. Hehehe.

When did you first wear a sari? Do short girls look ok in one?

Re: When did you first wear a sari?

First tried my mom's saree when I was in metric. Got a few of my own after masters.

Re: When did you first wear a sari?

I don't really get sari's after wedding mentality, but ami didn't let me wear one before marriage either. Actually no, I wore a sari on my elder sister's walima... first and last time I wore one before marriage. After marriage I've worn loads of times... even last Eid :)

Height doesn't make too much of a difference on sari-wearing - as the sari actually makes you look taller IMO. Wear long heels, and make sure you wrap it nicely. It's important and makes a big difference to the actual look. I still haven't mastered the technique but learnt a few good tips from GS :D

Re: When did you first wear a sari?

First wore a saree at traditional day in school, and been in love ever since. Love the fact that it's flattering on almost any shape and there are so many elegant ways of draping it. My sister gets a new blouse stitched for her going-out sarees every couple of years, so she can mix and match and get a different look each time without having to spend too much.

Re: When did you first wear a sari?

Yup, the key is to wear your heels when you're draping the saree so the height of the pleats and pallu is perfect.

Re: When did you first wear a sari?

December 2004 - At my cousin's walima. Think I was 16.

Re: When did you first wear a sari?

I always longed to drape a saree and long frocks since childhood but never had a chance to wear one before my graduation farewell. The entire graduating class had to wear them following the theme. I remember I requested a friend and she brought one for me along with hers from Sargodha. It was white with tilla embroidery. Had it dyed and spent a day finding an appropriate lace for the pallu and the a fown banarsi blouse that could go with the plum saree. Received a lot of appreciation from my juniors and I sometimes wear it with high heels and flaunt in my house ;)
