When are airfares the cheapest?

Mostly, the cheapest tickets are usually available when no major holidays are near and school is in session?

Re: When are airfares the cheapest?

Usually when there is no rush .....But here in Pakistan the fares are increasing day by day due to increase in fuel prices

Re: When are airfares the cheapest?

april/may and oct/nov??

Re: When are airfares the cheapest?

**those days are gone...now except the summer holidays and Christmas time, there are great bargains to be had because airlines are cash strapped and their survival is always at stake.

now, you have to be a smart bargain hunter. if u r flexible with dates and times, you can really get a good web fare. also are those days gone when early booking gave you a better fare...not so anymore...last minute deals are sweeter sometimes. there are other tricks to getting a great fare is choosing your destination airport. for instance flying to main airport is cheaper than subsidiary airports if you destination has more than one airport.

fares from Canada are always much higher, due to exorbitant taxes, than from the US...if you close to a border town, u are better off traveling from the US side of the border.

this past Christmas, i had to travel from Toronto to Richmond, VA...the average fare from Toronto was about $500 while from Buffalo [90 minute drive] was $181...i drove to Buffalo, parked my car there for a flat rate of $45 for a week and flew from there...it was a great saving...5 family members traveled together so we saved over $1500.**

Re: When are airfares the cheapest?

Hope this might help

The following will however increase your probability of obtaining very inexpensive fares:
Do fly mid-week
Do fly early in the morning or late at night
Do fly in low season (Spring and Autumn)
Do make use of sales. These sometimes appear 3-5 weeks prior to departure, however this is by no means guaranteed.
Don't fly during public holidays.
Don't book your ticket less than two weeks in advance
Opt for return tickets, but keep in mind, in most cases airlines will charge extra fees for changes of date or time.

Re: When are airfares the cheapest?

:jazak:

I,m always looking for cheaper ways of flying…

also would it work out cheaper flying different airlines for different sectors and multi booking/stop over etc…or would one ticket work out the same
ie

pakistan to usa non stop..
pakistan dubai england usa..?

Re: When are airfares the cheapest?

**yes, its always good to find cheaper airfares

NOPE, mix N match [using multiple airlines is never cheaper]. those days are gone when airfares were less structured and hence cheaper to fly using multiple airlines.

Pakistan is at a disadvantage because no western airlines serve Pakistan from the US or Europe. u’ve limited choices. If visa is NOT an issue then flying to Karachi via Delhi would be cheaper as compared to direct flights or flights via europe or the middle east.

my fare to Delhi/Bombay is less than a $1000 even in peak season. another $214 to and from Bombay/Delhi to Karachi…a total of about $1200 as compared to about $1600 - $1700 on PIA during peak summer months.**

Re: When are airfares the cheapest?

as far as i know airfares are usually cheaper between these months "Jan to Dec" :D
