What do you do when a close/best friend of yours becomes angry/upset with you, and isn’t willing to hear anything when you give lots of explanation though the mistake was yours,and even after you apologize, he/she just doesn’t respond anything back. Should you just give them time & leave them alone then?

If you think you've tried to explain and they aren't willing to accept your apology it's best to give them time and let them be.

Let them be, and after some time, when they come to their senses, you can try to explain again, or just let things lie.

yeah he/she needs time to cool down. If one is ur true friend he/she wudnt have issue putting it aside.

But isn't it possible that, after you have given them time, they might want to contact you back but may just wait for you to do so?

Tell her one more time that you've already apologized for your mistake and that you feel the friendship has come this far and you don't want it to break down over something like this......and that you'll respect her need for a break/space.....and that when she's ready to talk, you'll be there.
^That way....you leave it up to her.....she'll contact you when and if she's ready......and you don't have to continue chasing after her with phone calls and text messages, etc.

this is all crap .... it does not matter if they are not coming back at the moment or not understanding you at the moment ... the worst thing you can do is be mad at someone whoes already mad at you ... they were your best friend for a reason and they deserve the best of you ... oh my god .... i am such a sweet talker ... Once I have tried to contact them a couple of times already , not it is on them to reply back. If they do not then they do not want to be my friend anymore.
