When a member is banned

Re: When a member is banned

Maybe I failed to conclude in my post, but it is already like that. Although I like to point out that permanently banned and 2 weeks banned members and their multis are treated differently, although I know that in this thread, we are talking about permanently or long termed banned people.

if we need to discuss more, I like to take the discussion offline.

Re: When a member is banned

Yeah everyone from Lahore should be banned. What a generalization ? :bummer:

Re: When a member is banned

So let me clarify just in case if it looks that X2 and I are on different page cause we are not.
its an old and still valid policy of GS that we ban the people and not the nicks. Yes, sometimes it becomes difficult to find out if a new nick is a multi of a banned person so that might give the banned person some window but its a matter of time till we found out and then the new nick gets ban.

Re: When a member is banned

Re: When a member is banned

See that is the problem, you guys pick the words and I knew that someone would quote me on those two places.

Here is the what we do. As soon as we realize that person X is also a banned nick Y but he/she is behaving from his other nick, we communicate with the person through PM, telling him that we know that you are also Y, but we noticed that you are following GS polices through X and if you continue to do that then we will let you but [because we ban people, not nick] we are going to unban your first nick also and now its your choice to post through any of the nicks, but you are under probation and any stupidity and all nicks are gone.

See the thing is that its easy for you guys to catch my words, but not easy to see my actions as 98% of the stuff happens behind the scene that only me, X2/Muzna and related CMs and Mods are aware of. Not even my whole team is aware of many of the things that are taken care of behind the scene. Under such circumstances, I can see how this adminship can be judged by her words and 2% of the actions, i.e. the iceberg is being judged by its tip only, but the fact that this site runs so smoothly (technical glitches aside) considering that we get about 2000 posts a day should be a good evidence of how efficiently and effectively this team performs.

I am not taking any credit of this. Credit goes to all the mods and CMs who spend so much time going through almost every single post that is posted on daily basis.

Re: When a member is banned

Okay, let me explain as simple as possible.

You be a [insert not so nice word unsuitable for Feedback forum], you get banned.

Come back with a new nick and behave like a normal person, no ban.

Come back again and again with a new nick being a [again insert your choice of a not so nice word unsuitable for Feedback forum] ban ban ban ban.

Nobody who violates GS policies again and again is allowed to stay and post, but there is always benefit of the doubt that aperson may have learned their lesson. One’s current behavior decides whether they should be allowed to stay or become banned again.

It’s not that complicated!

Ummm you should know better about this multinick stuff Mirch!

Re: When a member is banned

Thank you for the "GS bans for Dummies" Sara. But where exactly did I say it was complicated? In my first post I said people come back with a new nick and act like a-holes again, so banning one of the several nicks of one person doesn't really make any difference. Then sweetif and a couple of other guys said the same thing. Then TLK said it is very difficult to identify and ban all nicks of one person, plus a person might have learned his lesson by getting one of the tens of his nicks (the stuff you very considerately explained above). To which X2 said:

Do let me know in a private message if you still don't understand whats going on in this thread. It would be my pleasure to explain it in further detail.

Re: When a member is banned

TLK - Nobody is trying to judge or discredit you habibi. I am certainly not. I do acknowledge that all of you guys are doing a brilliant job at managing this whole setup. I just had a concern that I shared, nothing more to it. I am really not sure where in my posts have I commented on anyone's performance or even intentions. Again, I assure you I was just sharing a concern, and that I will continue to do as long as I am a user.

The thread has served its purpose so I am closing it.
