Question. When you ‘ban’ a certain dimwit for his dimwitism, why is it okay for him to be back on the website the next minute with a different nick? Is this out of love for mankind in general or the love for website traffic?

By the general principle, a warned person should continue to have posting rights whereas a banned person should actually be banned for a while. What you do is like telling someone that they are not allowed to enter a building…using this particular door. If they decide to enter using another door right next to the restricted one, well, its their call. That’ll teach them, yeah?

Oh and just so you know, posting one of them standard official statements and locking the feedback/complaint thread doesn’t always satisfy the users, plus at times it seems rather rude. Hasn’t happened with me alhamdulilah, but I have seen that happen around here quite a bit recently. I am fully aware and appreciative of the fact that this is a desi owned and operated website, but still the brethren managing the website should perhaps give the members some respect. This whole setup is based on the ties and mutual respect between the members after all.

You are correct, the ban should be for an individual and not a nick.

I have asked the team that any ambiguity that the ban is for an individual and not their nick should be cleared up and implemented.
