Yes the media has created terrorism and made Islam synonymous with it, even though terrorism likely kills fewer people in a year than those killed by AIDS in Africa in a few hours… Don’t you just love media spin doctoring.

in middle east, atleast here in the gulf states, there have been only peaceful protests and firm boycott....
only in pakistan do u find such violence....

I agree with what (I think) Seminole is trying to say. The fact is, no matter how loud those of us are who opposed the cartoons peacefully, another group who are obviously not following the example of our Prophet is louder. It does us absolutely not one iota of good to bury our heads in the sand and pretend that extremists don't exist in Islam, or that people don't warp the teaching of Islam for their own purposes.
The fact is that playing this game of "well what person X did is worse than why person Y did" is serving the interests of NO ONE. We as muslims need to get off our rears, stop playing the blame game, and start making intelligent rational choices about how to improve our lives. For goodness sake there are over a billion of us. Do you really think that some small group of Jews or western powers actually have the wherewithall to run your lives? Let India join the OIC. At least they know how to go into a negotiation with a superpower without losing the shirt off their backs.
And, most importantly, when dealing with people of other faiths, let's actually follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and act respectfully. This 'he's a kaffir she's a kaffir' clearly isn't convincing anyone of why he or she would want to become a muslim, and it isn't doing anything positive for the Ummah.
Antiobl - It's not the "middle east mullahs" for the most part spreading nonsense, it's the mullahs of the desi variety trying to politicize and take advantage of a situation to their own end.
Stu - Islam is not an intolerant faith, however, many muslims are intolerant.
Armughal - did you miss the protests in Libya, Syria, & Lebanon? Last time I checked, that area is still the 'Middle East', althought Libya could rightly be termed North Africa.

This just proves the point: a Westerner simply has no interest in the truth, and will bend and twist the ground realities to support their intellectually-vapid positions.
From the UAE port deal to this, to whatever else lies in the future...the BIG question is...why the hell are Muslims trying to communicate to these idiots?

A cleric declared a bounty on the head of the cartoonist...and is now in jail. We have a mechanism to control extremists...it's called the law. Those people who burned down KFC, or those embasies were criminally responsible. Fine.
But what does it say about those who are willing to be distracted by these fits of stupidity, in the face of MUCH larger peaceful protests? This is what they call "deflection". A protest is made, and an argument prestented...the lazy among the Western commentators simply don't want to address the messy issues this conflict brings up, start waving the flag of "freedom" and focus on the hundred or so people who are burning things.
We need to focus on law and order in our own nations, fine...but to allow those who hate us this excuse to avoid the issue is not a wise thing to do.
Or do you have a good answer as to why it's valid to focus on the violent few to the NEGLECT of the peaceful majority who were anything but silent on this issue!
