When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

By a cursory analysis of Pakistani media outlets and trends on the street, one can see that Pakistanis’ core belief system consists of the following two main aspects:

  1. The CORE belief in God
  2. The CORE belief in Anti-Americanisms

Belief #1 describes our collective and firm understanding that everything in this world happens according to God’s will. We must please God if we want to be successful in the life hereafter.

Belief #2 describes our collective and firm understanding that everything BAD in Pakistan and the world happens because of Americans and the West. Thus we must antagonize and resist and if possible go after Western interests. These are the two beliefs that we use to spend our days and nights and our WHOLE life.

Our educated elite respect and adore anyone who says “believe in God”.

Our educated elite respect and adore anyone who says “America/West is evil”.

Our educated elite make the person a MINI-GOD or paghamber anyone “who can harp on God” AND “expresses his/her utter hate for America”.

Here are the examples to prove this point. All these “heroes” for Pakistanis had one thing in common. That they all had us drink the poisonous brew the deadly mixed the cocktail of Islamism and Anti-Americanism.

– Saddam Hussain.
– Imam Khomeni
– Ben Ladin
– Mullha Ghazi

And the list goes on and on.

One would ignore the belief system in NORMAL circumstances. However the situation in Pakistan is such that we cannot ignore the belief system any longer. Our country is being torn apart by the forces who have the twin belief system. Our future generations in UK, US and the West in general are fast becoming a mis-fit and thus destined for the ghetto life in the West.

Unless and until we conduct a serious review of our belief system, Pakistan and Pakistanis will remain in grave peril.

Re: When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

I have yet to find a Muslim in pakistan who says "I believe in myself only. I do not believe in anything which I do not experience by myself."
Such a persons if left unharmed by religious bigots will be a very brave man. Afterall he is not running on beaten tracks of religion. There may be numerous such fellows who have scientific attitude in them but due to fear of fanatics and unfavourable Pakistani laws, they keep mum.

Re: When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

Hashmat & Mo293 - instead of attacking the messenger, why don't you answer the question if you can, debate it. How does it matter how old or fat or dark or tall or bald he is?

SECULAR GOVERNMENT with religion or faith freely practiced by individuals as long it does not violate civilian laws or create nuisance in the neibhorhood.:)

That's atheism. Why don't you say clearly that you have not found atheists in Pakistan clearly coming out and declare their atheism?

BTW, it's not going to happen anytime. So keeping hoping...

Jehiludin, a very sincere advice for you.. Please worry about the paradise of slumdogs back home and leave us bad pakis in our hell to take care of our issues.

Its like you Indians rabbid fixation with bad pakis have no limits. Even in pure Indian threads you drag us bad Paks in the discussion...

Re: When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

Burqaposh, as a citizen, what do you think people should do or how do you think we can create balance and overcome the hatred part?

I am all for good advise but you are not qualified to give it.
BTW, you should look up what Jalal means and pray for murdering something holy; not an advise, just a warning

Advise is for sane ppl not for your type with rabbid fixation of Pak.

Re: When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

Sad thing is other belief systems such asdemocracy, military dictatorships, secularism have all been ripping Pakistan apart too. Pakistan has been led by military dictatorships and democrats since1947 and it is both these groups which have caused the initial rot.

Re: When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

So what's you point?

Believing in God is a personal choice. Their belief system is not part of the problem. No God wants bloodshed. And also people in Pakistan are not anti-American. What they don't like is how the government treats the rest of the world (especially Muslim world) as being the super power. They don't like their policies. They have every right to question what they see as a problem.

[note] Thread cleaned up. No personal attacks are allowed & stick to the topic. [/note]

I don't know from where you get your material and i surely doubt that you ever give a thought over the material you are about to post in this forum.

Just to keep the answer short, the Pakistan described by few around you and your favorite channel is entirely different.

Osama from the day one ( post 9/11) has been considered an element of CIA/America who is going to act to benefit western extremists... yes he was ideal of few including Americans ( yes the christains) who considered him war-hero, when he was fighting against USSR

Saddam Hussain was never liked among the masses of muslim world nor in Pakistan, yes there are few who considered him Salahuddin of this era but that sentiment didn't last long.

above was just an example of reality.. from which my friend western influnced media is trying to escape.

Hanibal is right!

The problem is political differences and not of religious differences............

and it is all about influence........

who can infuence US Congress to act the way they want.......

The African American Voters(20% approx) of US forced the US Govt to declare South Africa an Aparthied State................

Israel is also an Apparthied State...........but has too much influence........plus the Evangelist Christian Support! hence we have what we have now!

Therefore let us not see it through the eyes of a religious Burka as you have seen it.......:)

Re: When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

(I disagree that it was only African American voters who "forced" the US govt to boycott apartheid South Africa. It was white people also who effected that movement. Back in the 1800's the anti-slavery movement was led by white people of conscience, because black people did not have the power to do so.)

I think the strongest motivators in Pakistani culture are family, the desire to be esteemed well by others, within the family as well as by people outside the family, and to have a secure life and afterlife.

Influence is most infuriating tho those who don't have any. What is more powerful in Pakistani society: rishwat or safaarish?

I think it is safaarish, because it is simply networking at the lower levels and power-sharing at higher levels. It's who you know. Rishwat is about what you have and what you can buy (or whom you can buy, too, I suppose). It's certainly flashier, but safaarish is at every level of Pakistani life.

I think we need to use safaarish for good.

Re: When a belief system rips apart a country! (what should its citizens do?)

There is nothing wrong in believing that USA is at the core of most of the evil in the world. A lot of citizens of many countries hold that belief, specially those who know what CIA has been up to in Latin American and African countries.

It is just how you deal with it. Taking up arms and yelling Jihad is NOT how to deal with it. Education and economic development is what makes you stand up and defend yourself in today's world.

I GUESS ONLY LOVE CAN OVERTAKE HATRED.
