This summer i got to live closer to some friends from karachi. Somehow i rarely felt like as if they thought of me as one of them, the belonging feeling was always missing. mostly it was just going through the motion with hello, Hi and Bye, even at the times when we hung out together i felt like as if they didnt think of me as one of them…it sounds complicated and i dont really want to sound raciest but beside the experience of this summer, i feel like Karachi people are little too self oriented and when i eventully moved out of that place and lived with some other people i tried to maintain some contact, but few times when i called two of those guys sapertly, i seemed to be the only one who was interested in maintaining the contact, and it seemed pretty cold from them.
I just wanna know whats up with this, is it just me or other people feel that too. and what is up with the people from Karachi.?
Hey I guess you're in a not so nice group of people or maybe they just take time to warm up to newbies... hang in there and maintian your tanacity and enthusiasim for friendship..they'll come around eventually :)

Well i have just thrown a Qs in the air and lets see if people have similar experience or not.
some times ppl feel more convinient to open up with other people who belong to same ethnic background. It is same for all cities, but that is not the case every time and everywhere. People who lived in hostels have more experience of meeting people from different background and places.
It is like if you go overseas you will be happy to find a person from your country, not caring about his locality.

Yeah, I agree that the majority of the people from Karachi are generally more reserve as compared to the people of other parts of the country...

BEing reserve is different but being cold and so self oriented is different, thats what i have experienced in last 3 Yrs. Also i have noticed that the karachi people develop linkings and dislikings from the very first meetings, they either like some one or dislike someone from very first time they meet them, and that usually doesnt change.
I have never witnessed such a divide between Karachites and others. Perhaps it is apparent when you move to Karachi from another part of the country. But I could see that happening no matter where you move to. Isn't it just a social situation that everyone faces?
is tarhaan hum sub ko bura bhala kehna…it hurts and im offended
anyways, maybe u had a bad experience Nikema, paanchon unglyaan barabar to nai na hoteen i am sorry that it was not a good experience for u…but i am sure it was just those ppl…just like u wil find good and bad ppl in every place…
lekin hum saray ab itnay bhee buray nai haen…
we have all got our stereotypes about ppl from other cities…karachiites also have stereotypes about ppl from other cities…we think ppl from other cities look down at us…
even in khi: the urdu speaking folks think that ppl dont accept them as pakistanis coz they migrated from india…punjabis think urdu speaking folks look down on them for being paindoo…and so on…
in the end we all want love and acceptance from each other…so come on now let us forget all gilay shikway and all stand together and sing the national anthem
