I am least familiar with Art Nouveau style.. just for learning purposes.. would you share your most fav piece..
i'm not too familiar with the artists of art nouveau. i just love the style. it's something that was translated into everyday commercial use as well. there are some great decoration and jewellery pieces out there. not to mention houses that were modelled after the style.
ok sorry khumar.. i remember now ii hatedddd it.. :cb:
its so gaudyyyyy nahee???
but something similar is so in these days.. those organic flowy leafy patterns are so used in websites and all .. but they are lighter and more gothic looking..
ok i went to look for jewellery, and i stumbeled upon Klimt
I think this is the also the time when they were drawing all those harem girls. those are just beautiful beautiful pieces. unfortunately i have yet to come across an artist for a harem girl painting maybe i’m not looking carefully
haha they did have a flair for going all out in buildings. i think that’s why the next movement after art nouveau was more tamed. but i mean one of the reasons surrealism and art nouvea came at this time because the artists wanted to break free from the classical art revival and romanticism that was occuring a few years before.
hmm cool maham.. share any of your most favs.. would love to see, honestly i am a little ambigious on this style too... oops
well i dont really have anything in particular as my favorite but just the whole retro symbols (polkas, basic shapes, etc) interest me alot. I might post some reference 2morow.

Absolutely! and how important is this to break away from the norm.. in Art i think it is most crucial.. which is why i admire duchamp too for his 'Urinal..'
And lets not forget Monet' took the same path.. Picasso and list goes on and on..

Some thing of Andy Warhol style..
I think its pretty hot now a days in pakistan ...
oh yeah. but at the same time it’s ironic that wat was the norm that artists try to break free from was the radical idea in it’s own time. and it’s such a cool cycle though. and they keep coming with new ideas.
i could be wrong, but i think this is an art nouveu style pin
i think it’s very possible. and you can’t forget the fact that they were able to make their jewellery all pretty pretty because of the gems they mined from the subcontinent
Impressionism interests me. This style is unique because to me, it (in a way) shows a true form of Art. That is to show what you see through yours eyes, not how the object really is. It is to draw/paint what you feel and put your perception on a blank canvas.

this is sooooooooo true nemo... if you think about it.. it is such a crazy and thought provoking thing that things are not really how we see them.. or they take the shape of how our eyes see them.. but they are quite different infact.. so this is like reality is there but there are a 100 different views of just 1 reality..
Impressionism to me..knits dream and life in one..

I know. Very true. That's the good thing about Art. Everyone sees it through different eyes and everyone would be correct. There is 1 piece of art and it may have 10 different interpretations to it. And all of them might be correct. This example would sum it up pretty good:
A teacher drew a picture of horse. He then chose 3 students and called them up. He asked 1 student to close his eyes and randomly point anywhere on the picture. The student put his finger on Horse's tail. He then called next student and told him to do the same. That student put his finger on Horse's leg. He finally called the 3rd student and told him to do the same. The 3rd student closed his eyes and he put his finger on horse's head.
All 3 of them pointed at different things but all of them were correct (because all 3 of those parts were still part of horse). Same can be the case for this. One person may see something different from the other but both of them could be right.
