Experiences please 
I’ve had the WORST and the BEST boss experiences and I haven’t even professionally started working yet.. hehe
After graduating from school I started working part time coz I had loads of free time in the holidays (before I started college)… I worked in this huge retail store until my college started… the boss was a stupid arrogant mean racist, in-his-mid-20’s man! I won’t get into the full details now because that’ll take up the next two pages! But I can tell u when I quit… It was around Christmas time so the store was superrr busy! I had already been tolerating alot of his nonsense, but one day, after wrecking my head with christmas shoppers all day long, after running up n down like crazy, and after making 15,000 euros on my check out alone, I heard him saying I was lazy!!! 
… that was it!! The very next day, I wrote a resignation letter to the senior manager of the store and explained EXACTLY why I was leaving.. because of that idiot! My elder sister was also working there as the cash officer and when that idiot found out I had written a resignation letter and mentioned his name in it, he told my sister to tell me never to come back to his store and that I should have given at least a week’s notice before leaving, I can’t just walk away suddenly… so I told my sister to tell him that its not his store, he’s only an employee there just like everyone else, and that if he doesn’t follow any procedures, WHY should I? 
Once I left, about 10 other people resigned after me! 
… and one of them even submitted a complaint about him in the head office in UK and the inspectors started an investigation over him 
… they found out he was stealing money etc. and gave him a written warning… its been over 4 years, so many people have left coz of him (including my sister) and he is still working there! 
About the BEST boss … that was only recently.. I did my internship with Roche pharma in 2009 and the head of my department was the ideal boss! I swear she was just amaaazing! Not because she wasn’t strict… she was actually very very strict but at the same time she was also very friendly… she was so direct and to-the-point… if u made a mistake, she wouldn’t eat u alive but she would tell u in simple words that it was ur mistake and it shouldn’t happen again.. if u did something right, she would acknowledge that… if u did something great, such as completion of reports on target, she would take the whole department out for lunch to show that she appreciates our hard work! And she would mention ur good work to the upper management, to other colleagues, so that it encourages us to do even better the next time. She was super intelligent, she knew her stuff extremely well, she was well worth the position she held, an amazing inspirational woman, who had the perfect balance between family life and professional life.. She is whom I’d like to be like one day!

At my place i have outlived seven bosses in two years, one was caught embezzling funds..... and you know who, grassed him up ;)
Anyway all except two were good. There were two Asian bosses one was great and was a just and fair man who has been promoted. the other was a useless bully and i havent heard of him since he was transfered to the worst auto workshop i know.
My current boss is rather young and isn't much older than me, i still respect him but in turn he respects my experience in the trade and realtions couldn't be better.

Your ex boss really was a stinker! If i ever had that to contend with i would bide my time....... then conveniently in some dark alley smash the guy in whilst dressed as a ninja, heck he would probably pass out at the sight of me, i'm that ugly :D

oh oh neha... never ever have feelings for people you work for..esp the boss!!! always a recipe for disaster.
wow Huma, the evil boss you had was STILL working there?!? wth?!? after stealing?!?! i cant believe it! But i think these types of bosses are very typical of retail. They have to be total a**** when it comes to running the business because the staff turnover is so high! Its such a pity because I always think more people will stick around if the boss/upper management treats you well. I also had a retail job at an airport and had the worst boss in the whole world. I worked there for 4 months every Sunday and she still didnt know my name. My name was never on the rota list so sometimes i didnt get paid and I would have to really complain to get noticed!
It was a shambles. I just upped and left like a fart in the wind because the place depressed me so much!!! I got really upset even thinking about going into work because I wasnt given any checkout training and had absolutely no idea how to stock up.

Stardust, ur so right about these kinda bosses in the retail sector... in ireland 90% of the PART time employees in the retail sector are students because they are depserate for money, they need to support themselves etc. and u don't need a professional qualification to work in these stores.
And yes HE is still working there, he only got a written warning because that was the "standard procedure" of the employment act, they couldn't just fire him without giving a warning.

I have had 2 bosses and they were okay...gave me the hike I deserved, Alhamdulillaha....other than that, not much of an issue..
But have a couple of not so good experiences with the team-leads or team members...but then its all part of the job..:)

All my bosses were assholes except 1 Boss at the Airport. Maybe, because he is Indian. This can be the only reason.

All my bosses are great! There understanding, flexible and always there when I need a hand! I hope as I move further on in my career...i continue to have such amazing bosses!!
And one of them is quite a looker...so it makes coming to work even more fun ;)

I dont think I even had a "boss" at my last job. We were in groups and he was our team leader. But other than that, I've had pretty cool bosses. Cant complain.

So far, I have one of the best bosses one can ever get. My latest one is one hell of guy, the best of the best I can say.

My new boss (less than 6 months) is a nasheybaaz, wife cheater, and definitely a snob. To me, he is perfectly fine. I get to do what I want and he can have his fun.
