What's wrong with a straight razor or a double edge razor?

Atleast in the US, no one seems to use them except for true enthusiasts. And, to do that one has to spend atleast $50-$100 to get started. Are they more dangerous than cartridge razors (Mach3, Fusion, etc)?

:whistling:

here is what is wrong.

a straight or double edge will give you a consistent smooth shave even if you let your stubble grow for a few days. you will get more shaves out of your blade.

a five-bladed hyped-up pos will give you a smooth skinburning shave IF you shave DAILY. good luck saving your skin if you have a three day stubble. you will shave often, and buy a lot more razors with this one.

which one do you think manufacturers will push?

Straight and double edge razors sure are dangerous compared to modern cartridge razors - but comparing the two is the same as comparing james bond and marlboro man.

nothing beats the old safety razor (or straight razor) a good badger brush and goo shaving cream to shave. the straight razor is not easy to use and if u are not used to it u can mess up your face bigtime, and I am not talkign cuts .. thats common sense, but the amount of skin you take off when shaving, u have to balance closer shave with what is good for your skin.

do check out art of shaving website for some good products
