I've seen 'So'aba e Intehai Nigahdasht' in Govt hospitals in Pakistan, but I like your version 'Gosha e Intehai Nigahdasht' too. While arabic Shoa'ba gives indication of something crowded (sha'oob being tribe), the persian Gosha gives indication of a separate place like ICU itself is :)

In my understanding Unit is refered to as synonym of Department in many cases. Unit does not necessarily mean to refer to 'one' but to a group of one set of individuals too.
Gosha is really translated as an Avenue and it often refers to a corner. An ICU could be in the center of a hospital and not at the corner of it. But that's just my own opinion and I could very well be wrong.

were are NOT talking about it's physical situation...it's more about what sense you get when you refer to ICU? isn't it a place where a patient is secluded from the rest of the patients with more care? so gosha gives that meaning/sense! :) kia Khayaal hai?

I see where you are coming from. I was thinking more along the lines of units in police department. Notice, department in this case, is used for "Mehkma" and not "Shoba" :)
