whats this crazyiness?

Re: whats this crazyiness?

@ Shak. Looks like the family of Hamid Mir is pointing fingers at ISI. At least per WSJ article it didn’t appear GEO declared ISI responsible. The article stated GEO gave voice to the family to air it’s views on the matter. GEO I think also pointed towards the Taliban.

I don’t think it is realistic to wait for investigation to unfold. Media reports news. If news is that a family member thinks A or B could be guilty the station has the right and duty to report it..unless the station has reason to suspect foul play.

The media does investigative journalism also. And sometimes r ahead of law enforcement. So lines get blurred.

As for Fox News, there was a typo. Faux is what u meant to type I am sure.

Re: whats this crazyiness?

So far how many investigations have yielded fruits? Nawab Bugti killing? B.B assassination? How can media wait for the so called results of investigation and then start airing their voices?

Mr.Mir has always been a vocal critical of the said agency and he had been issued death threats by various quarters and Mr.Mir had already said that in public. Moreover, this attempt on his life could not have been carried out without the knowledge of `some’ high ranking officials.Again, this was not the first time an attack on his life was made.A bomb was planted under his car ,back in 2007 and the T.T.P had claimed responsibility for that.So it was the duty of the authorities to give him a foul-proof security.

His brother has said in a statement that officials from the I.S.I had visited him a few days earlier prior to the attack and told him that he was on a hit list. Now that Mr.Mir is alive, escaped from the attack and obviously the agency is under the scanner.

Re: whats this crazyiness?

The articles you are reading are simply misleading you. I would even go as far as calling them completely inaccurate. While my reservations with military and secret agencies are crystal clear in Pakistan Affairs, I don’t think any article on the web truly paints the picture which had been witnesses by all Pakistanis. In other words, people who are disappointing and outright disgusted by Geo saw 24Hr long continuous, aggressive and illicitly direct media trial of country’s most important institution. It was perhaps the most epic example of sensationalism I have seen coming from Pakistani media. I can assure you, things would not have gone this far if the channel was just ‘reporting’ Mir’s family’s concern. They did not help Mir’s case by acting like persecutors.

While I have full sympathies with Hamid Mir, I have no time to support Geo.

Re: whats this crazyiness?

People who are not exposed to this constant OVER discussion (to the nth degree, i might add); and witnessed how things have shaped up since the CJ movement; aren’t in any position whatsoever to comprehend what i alluded to in first post.

Re: whats this crazyiness?

@ Jolie

Did some homework. Huffington Post carried a NY TIMES article. Describes GEO as essentially accusing ISI and going overboard. Looks like this is sensational theater. Not journalism.

Got to agree with Shak and you on this. Media is not supposed to make things up.
