There was a time when the word "Dallaal" was a normal word used for brokers. Now its used in negative context only. English word Gay is same. You probably noticed that word "Mulla" that used to be a respectful word, now used as a derogatory term.
Re: Whats the negativiety in using words....
Dhandha meant bussiness of prostitution in colloquial hindi:)
Dalal was word for agent, though Mumbai has Dalal Streed that leads to Bombay stock exchange:)

If Dhanda is prostitution in colloquial Hindi, what other word they use for Business / Trade/ Profession?
Re: Whats the negativiety in using words....
Dhanda word is used but its meaning depends upon the tone implied in the sentence, Vyapaar/Byapaar is used in Braj Area, and even the local traders are called Vyapaari/Byaapari. KKF can tell what they say in Poorab:)

Bengali writers are amazing.
Re: Whats the negativiety in using words....
dhandha is only bad in certain context. both meanings of dhandha are used very much, infact positive meaning is used more than negative one.
when you say dhandha in terms of a male then its a legit business, but when u use that word in context of a lady then most of the times it means prostitution.
same goes with pesha. though pesha - peshewar means professional or expert. where as dhandha is just business.
Re: Whats the negativiety in using words…

So the words don’t have any negativity, its the way of using these words, which convey negativity.
