I tell you history of GS.
A little over a decade ago, the American Security Forces were looking at ways of monitoring chat traffic in the Pakistani community in order to gauge non-usa friendly sentiment, and to find out when trouble was brewing.
To this end, they set up Gupshup, in the guise of a pakistani friendly community forum, and placed at its head, a couple of shady characters who go by the names of Azkar and / or Ehsan.
The ASF also appointed its other Federal Agents along the way as mods, who's job it is to analyse, track and highlight any potential threat to security in order to stop any unpleasant occurences originating from this particular axis of evil. You may have noticed that mods change from time to time, this is bcos the Federal Agents have either left their jobs or change positions within the organization so new Agents are posted in their place, this is when you get a change in Mods. Please remember this the next time you see a "Welcome your new Moderator" sticky, its not as innocent as it seems.
Other than that, I cannot say anymore. I have already compromised my status as GS subscriber in order to tell the world this information. I calculate that you have only a few seconds window in which to read this, as this post will be eradicated as soon as a "mod" gets to see it.

I left the job couple of time due to low pay scale. These people dont pay much to mods. The current team is also white colar folks.
I am earning more now. Working for Cheese factory and ISI as double agent and provide cheese and bacon to Bait Ullah Mehsoor every morning. The bloody Tatto does not enjoy his breakfast without em :halo:

Seriously coming back to the topic isnt there anybody who can share the thought process of what went in creating this tremendous website.
As an Indian I cam here to see the other perspective. I gained something more than that. There is tremendous amount of knowledge that you can gain over here.
Also what is the revenue model for GS. I know there are google ads placed, but is this sufficient...

Azkar start sketching the idea on his kitchen table.. some where in 1996-1998 . .after he got fed up from IRC’s .. coz no body give him “grass” any more..
So currently Gupshup is more then 12-13 years old.. as far who was the first member, this is disputed.. coz x2 said.. when Azkar open the forum he was already here…

if you don't know yet, then let me tell you: Azkar/x2/TLK is one of the richest Pakistani abroad, they estimated wealth is in millions of $$$. So money is not a problem for GS.
