With computers becoming cheaper and faster at an exponential rate and smartphones/tablets eating into the market of gaming consoles, will they die a slow death or will they reinvent themselves to stay relevant in the future?
Re: What's the future of game console?
I don't think that tablets/smartphones are really a threat to the console market. At least not in the near future anyway. The consoles this generation have already outpaced their previous generation counterparts in sales, despite the lower costs and higher power of PCs. Mobile devices are aimed at different markets anyway. If anything, I'd say that tablets and smartphones would at most compete with consoles when it comes to XBLA/PSN type games, but not the AAA big budget games. There are also Android game consoles, such as Ouya, that are out/coming out in the near future. But even then, I don't see them really making a dent in the console market.

I agree with Captain. I have a computer that I play the game on and then there is the xbox. I prefer to play with xbox since it provides me with a superior experience. I have to use the computer for games that I cant play around the kids.
