I see these cd repair kits in stores and I wonder if anyone one has ever used one. DO they really work?

Here is a little trick I use to clean up scratched CDs and DVDs. Apply tooth paste on the surface of the CD, use a toothpaste with solid base and not the gel types. Take cotton cloth or the lint used to clean lenses and gently rub the surface from the center to the circumference of the disc. Do not make any circular movements. Wash with warm water.
Sometimes just a wash with your regular dish waher will do the trick.
