i have many drug store eye make up kits. I have many many colours in them. I dont understand whats so good about MAC’s eyeshadows & pigments that one should buy a single eye shadow over a kit that you might get of half the price. Is it the colours, if yes then which ones? Is it their texture?or what?
Which ones are best in your view?

I have a lot of eyeshadows from different companies. Of course why I buy from each company has a reason. Why I buy from MAC ...
- Their eyeshadows are pigmented compared to a lot of different brands
- They have a huge variety of colors
- They are cheaper compared to a many high-end brands
- You have an option of pigments or eyeshadows
- When it comes to eyeshadows they have different finishes - frost/matte/satin/lustre etc. (my absolute fav. reason to buy from them)
So like I said these are the reason I buy from MAC now I can go on with a list of why I why from urban decay or some other brand.. :):)
I'd say the colour selection, the pigmentation and the fact that most of them are easy to blend. That being said not all MAC eyeshadows are great, I generally don't like their lustre finishes.

I think its mainly due to the final finish and blendability of the eyeshadows, really lovely...the colour selection is so vast too, and you can get a really good variety. I do find there is very little 'fallout' too from using the Mac shadows, so they dont all end up smudging or fading very easily.....:)

honestly you're right....its just the hype about MAC makeup...i love MAC and that is what i usually wear, but im not one of those girls that JUST shop at MAC and refuse to wear other drugstore makeup...MAC is actually expensive for me, so I use drugstore for everyday basis, and only on weekends, or when i have time i wear MAC.
I have a couple of eyeshadows from MAC and indeed their pigmentation is really good...but i find some drugstore eyeshadows almost the same....and did i mention their eyeshadow pots are so small!
ULTA eyeshadows are amazing...they are really pigmented and i think only about 4 bucks each? and they have alot of variety to choose from too...you can easily compare it to MAC pigmentation.
okay so everyone talks abou the staying power of MAC, lasts all day, etc. My secret is to use the Urban Decay Eyshadow Primer before I apply my eyeshadow, and honestly almost ANY eyeshadow will stay on all day....
so invest in something that is worthy like the Urban Decay Eyeshadow primer...
I think for budgest friendly people a good idea would be to buy default colors that you would wear alot to parties from MAC cosmetics (gold, silver, shimmery colors) and then just buy the other colors that you wear to school/work from drugstores..and just use the primer.
