I wonder if the OP is considering staying single or perhaps is not ready to get married/start a family yet. Do people cease having goals after marriage and children? Is this the only goal in mind for the single folks? OP, was this your sole goal as a single person...or do you recall having others as well (education, career, character development, philanthropic, etc)? Not mocking, just curious.

There is a difference of priorities. When you have a child their goals and ambitions are what that matter. Then your job is not career advancement it is to get paid well so that your kids can go to a good school. Travel is just not vacation for you, but to ensure you choose a place your kids enjoy. So yes when you are married and your have kids your priorities do indeed change and yes in some ways their goals cease to be important.
