That’s right, these complex organic molecules, when assembled together (with other complex organic molecules, many of which would be destroyed during the extraction process) will form cells. Cells, when assembled together, form tissues, and tissues together form organs.
Going down one level below these complex organic molecules (proteins), are simply atoms.
To asnwer the second part of your question, mad cow desease is not passed on by cell transfer. Mad cow disease is where a corrupted form of one of these complex organic molecules (called a prion), enters your brain. This prion will corrupt other complex organic molecules in your brain to form more and more prions, which cause the symptoms of the disease through affecting brain function.
That’s why unlike, say, salmonella, mad cow disease cannot be defeated simply through proper cooking of food. The prion withstands boiling without breaking down; it withstands grilling, it withstands frying. The only thing you can do is chemically destroy it (which would wreck the meat too).
Mad cow disease is not caused by a bacteria or virus which can be killed… it is more like a lethal biochemical reaction inside your brain. A self-catalyzing reaction, that basically fuels itself.
The danger of mad cow disease transmission through cosmetic is that if your cosmetics get contaminated with prions, and you ingest the prions, then you are basically screwed.
It’s hard to imagine, but a tiny, resilient molecule of organic origin is capable of killing a human being.
so MS, what you are saying is that Pork is good and beef is bad. Everyone knows that already. ![]()
nadia.. just an aside.. cow brains are a very popular dish in pakistan. looks like scrambled eggs. soft and mushy. never tried them tho.
