What's happened to Madhuri?

Since Dil To Pagal Hai, she’s only made one film (which was crap–with Akshaye Kumaar–another loser)—what’s happend to this one-time queen of Bollywood (and great actress)?

Any new films in the pipeline?

asif sweety bas wo budhee ho gai !!!!

na na kidding actually no one in bollywood can get ther eyes of ASH these days , maduri ki kis ko yaad hai ?????

s*m*i*le!!!!!!!!

Hi Komal :)

No doubt ASH is very beautiful---us ne kitnoN ko jalaa ke RAAKH kardiya hoga haina? :) ;)

But Ms. Dixit is a MUCH better actress...

I think ASH looks great in JEANS (the movie bai, though she looks good in jeans too no doubt!)--especially the song 'Hai nee Hai nee hai Rabba!"

Saw a pirate copy of HDDCS which was a REALLY bad print so I could hardly see anything--but it seems phir se dekhni hogi yeh movie as so much PRAISE has been lavished on it.

HaaN ASHWARYA--great body, great chihra...but still not as beautiful as Madhubala... :)

Which part of India is she from?

Madhuri's got the M.F.Hussain film "Gaj Gamini" coming up, apparently, it's having problems with the censor board in India.

Aishwarya Rai is from Karnataka, which is a state to the south of maharashtra (the Bombay one).

Aishwarya Rai is a Bunt from Mangalore, Karnataka. Her mother tounge is Tulu a language spoken in Mangalore. I think she has been raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra. So she should be fluent in Hindi, English and Marathi too. Madhuri is a Maharashtrian from Mumbai.

i don't know where she's been but she's got a whole bunch new movies coming out soon. one with shahrukh and salman. another with aamir, and lots more, she's my favorite, i don't een anything great about ash, she's pretty i guess, but i am a girl so i don't have too much to say about their looks etc. but maudhri is the best actress

Mahduri may be a better actress right now. But if you look back to when she was at the same stage of her career as Ashwaiyra Rai is now, Ash blows her away. I never really became a Mahduri fan until "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun".

I think by far the most beautiful actress in Bollywood has to be Ash. She's not only good looking but, she also has that same sweetness that Juhi did when she started out in QSQT.

Asif,
I agree she may not be comparable to Madubala (or Waheeda Rehman, Sadhana, Saira Banu or Vijantymala in their prime). But I think that had more to do with the presentation of those actresses, and the number of quality films they had the oppertunity to be in.

Back than, the directors had the talent and vision to make actresses to appear even more beautiful than they were.

A scene from Guru Dutt's "Kagez ke Phool", is an example of this difference. In the film, the director (played by Guru Dutt), is searching for a "Paro" for his film Devdas. When he finds Waheeda Rehman to play the role, he becomes upset at Waheeda Rehman at what she let the publicists/make-up artists transform her into. She had lost that simplistic, natural beauty, which had attracted Guru Dutt to Waheeda Rehman in the first place. That one scene for me is an example of the differences between the dirctors than & now. Back than, there were some directors that were artists committed to their craft.

In some scenes, directors are able to make their actresses so beautiful, that they they appear to not only be physically beautiful, but also glimpse of their souls. I think Waheeda Rehman in "Chaudavi Ka Chand", Meena Kumari in "Pakeezah" and Maduhbala in "Mughal-e-Azam" were all picturized in this manner.

Today's directors main concern is with showing off as much of the actress's body as that they can get away with. Either that or they become pre-occupied in dressing them in tight spandex or plastic (??!!?) saran wrap sarees.

In modern films, I think the closest a director has been able to come to creating the same impact is in "Lahme", when Sri Devi is about to return to India, and takes one last glance at Anil Kapoor, before she leaves.

I suppose you would rather see the originality found in Die Hard 1, 2, 3, 4??
or may be you like Speed (die hard on a bus), Speed 2 (die hard on a boat), Armegeddon (die hard on the moon).

I admit that there is not much originality found in 95% of Indian films - it is the presentation that differentiates them.

However the same can be said for 95% of English films as well. If you've seen enough of them, you would know that most are rehashing of old stories - whether old movies, or old novels.

Even the Star Wars trilogy (which I enjoyed watching while growing up - and incidently still enjoy), are nothing more than 1930's swashbackler film's set in space.
