Whats good pay in New York?

I have visited US couple of times on business still not the NY only west coast states but dont know taxes and packages etc.
whats a good salary for a senior IT consultant?
is basic 120K plus 20% bonus +usual stuff a good one or how far it goes to support a small family considering I will be moving there from UK? in UK i pay 40%
What are the tax rates?

120k plus another 48k as a bonus for a family of four is comfortable range to be living in NYC.

A good salary for IT consultant: Hmm... It all depends upon what exactly are you doing in consultancy. Infrastructure, Project management, SAP implementation etc etc.. Every domain is seperate and has different class of remuneration.
If you have acceptable academic qualification and roughly around 10 yrs experience, you can easily get 150K salary. And it should be sufficient enough to live in NY. Now since its your family with you I wont recommend you to get accomodation in NYC, rather just live temporarily till you move to suburbs or may be in areas like Queens. You'll know once you come in.
Taxes: Akh.. wut a sensitive topic. NYers pay so much taxes. Overall you'll pay around 40% here as well. Property taxes are low than suburbs.

I doubt if you can get 48k bonus unless you are a VP or any other executive :)

120k is more than enough to live a comfortable life. Taxes are around 40% as well. A one bedroom apartment cost around $1200 rent a month.
