From Jan 19 to June 19, in six months, 1300 children were sexually abused, raped or killed. 729 girls, 575 boys. Only in Punjab, 652 children were abused. Nation's capital Islamabad had 90 children, Lahore had 50. In Punjab particularly, violence against children has increased alarmingly, there were 387 more children abused in 1st six months of 2019 than 2018.
I don't have any idea what is happening in Punjab, how you guys living there with kids are coping? I would have lost my sleep, even my sanity.
I don’t think it’s cause it’s increasing, it’s because more abuse is being reported as there’s probably a more efficient police/law/government in place now.

SAHIL, the not-for-profit NGO that gathers and monitors these stats has been in function for several years, and compared to recent years, the incident rates of such crimes are rising alarmingly, and even if reporting has increased, the only conclusion will be the actual problem is far bigger than ever thought or imagined.
its being reported more - there is a slow general acceptance that these things exist - and hence media dare to report these…previously these were brushed under the carpet…the target are usually marginalized and poor children, middle class and up don’t let children out on the street unsupervised.
Again a problem caused by over population I think. Marginalised and poor children as @NomiCA said! If the poor people have fewer than 3 kids - they would be in a better position to provide good security, food, education and training to their them. They will not ask them to work in the dangerous environment.
What overpopulation you are talking about? children are being raped and murdered because they cannot escape from the subhuman scums that commit those atrocities and then get away with their heinous crimes. Saying people with 3 kids or less will be able to protect their kids from such monsters is just over-simplistic and puts the blame on parents unfairly. Do not connect poverty with sexual crimes, there is no consistent statistical evidence to support this.
@navzzz Most of the children who are victims of these crimes come from a poor background where they many siblings and to support their family they have to go out in the dangerous world - that’s what I meant
Then the problem is with this big bad dangerous world. Of course uncontrolled population expansion will exacerbate many problems in a weak economy (and improve many things in a stronger economy) but the real problem does not lie here. I have already proven in one of the prior threads population itself is never a hindrance to a country?s economy, infact it boosts manpower and increases the GDP, as long as it is supported with adequate systems and infrastructure. So again the problem lies with the system and the culture, rather than people having more than 3 kids or so.
Well @navzzz it has been going on from time immemorial I remember back in the 50’s our Grand Ma would warn us kids not to play on the street, She was scared some one would abduct us even right in front of our house, as you know because of the High Char Dewari Walls, she could not keep an eye on us from inside her kitchen!
And sure enough the News was bad even in those Good Ole Days! we read in the News Paper that this Man who lost is young boy, and had been looking for him all over and he traveled to a distant town, was having a meal at the local Hotel when the waiter brought him the meat shorba dish he ordered…
there was this finger of a little boy in his bowl…
Like third string says the media has lot more sources now!
@navzzz the system refuses to protect the vulnerable, I was reading that in Karachi 90 percent of street children are raped the first night out and most perpetrators are police. In Peshawar 90 percent of lorry drivers admitted to raping children. In this movie people are admitting of molesting children and no arrests.
These things may have been endemic for like forever, but I refuse to believe an epidemic is not going on currently, if you can disprove me, bring some stats. May be the animals have become more fearless, more animalistic and barbaric, knowing they can get away with anything now, the law & order situation has gone much worse since the 50s, so please don’t demote the problem by saying ‘oh these things have been going on since i was a kid’
