I heard her father wanted her to earn more & more money. And probably didn't want her to marry either. She didn't like it. So as a result she quit singing & got married.
I don't know how true is this but:
In late 70s she did a show in Abu Dhabi. Her father came along too. I have heard that he wanted gifts from Pakistanis for being Nahid Akhtar's father.
her interviews suggested that she had a crush on Imran Khan and I guess got devastated when he chose someone else..
