Re: What You Miss Most About Pakistan
The food that’s everywhere!
The warm nights.. make for a great long drive.
Beach walks, mountain climbing.
The beautiful paradise-like northern mountainous region that is pretty much unseen by the the rest of the world, and should stay like that, as pakistans hidden treasure ![]()
The tailors - if you have a vision of what you want, they make it, no question.
The ‘bipbipbipbibpbip’ noise on the road from all the cars and those colourful trucks!!!
…reminds me of a story. whilst the hubby and i were travelling around the world, we hit pakistan (my 3rd time there, hubbys first). Out the airport and into a car, my hubby was holding onto dear life with the way the driver was navigating through traffic whilst maintaining a speed of 80mph. It was a motorway style road, but the opposite traffic side was blocked with all these cows, so that traffic came onto our side of the road!!! :CareBear: It was so funny seeing my hubbys face, as he was a sheltered little frenchman, and had never seen such a thing, and you’d never get that happening on the motorways in the UK ![]()
Haiiii… wo zamanay… :hinna:

In general about Pakistan i miss :-
being the same colour as most, blending in with the people....
sunshine, better weather than the uk - none of those non-stop glomy nrothern england days...
the tea - both grean, normal and kashmiri and doodpati...tea was so mu h better there
cheap food - both local and international and good portions of food....the culture of eating out...the food tastes better too
cheap travel - bus tickets, taxis, rail travel oh so very cheap for a person with £.
the endless fields and greenery. the natural beauty - scenery, landscapes, birds, wildlife....some of the birds are so colourful
the relaxed atmospheres, the lack of mental stress...people might be poorer and have to work harder for their families but they are happier
people have time for one another - time to talk, time to offer you tea
being made top be felt special because i was a guest/new....rather than be just another cog in the wheel
what i miss about individual areas:-
about karachi i miss clifton, zam zama, keamari, native jetty bridge, jahangir kothari parade, mango pir, walking around the city, the patisseries near frere hall,
about lahore - old city and badshahi mosque area at night, the views from cuckoo cafe day and night, walking around jinnah gardens and shalimar gardens, the tranquility of hiran minar,
about islamabad - the greenery, the tranquility, going out in the evening there, daman i koh and pir sohawa, the drive to murree, not knowing which sector to visit. one of the oldest memories i had from islambad was sogo 2000 - an ice cream parlour with a netcafe...and i used it in 1998...there were loads ogf girls there....i had no idea girls in islamabad were allowed to hang out lol...
pindi.....ghazar plaza, mall road,
pesahwar - nimak mandi, bagh i naran, chief burger, pizza milano whic is now gone, city towers, wandering in the old city, visiting peshawar saddra on a sunday only to find it a complete ghost town lol, the grean tea,
quetta - the barren mountains in the background, that not too badly planned look of it, the pine trees lining the cantonment roads , sajji, quetta usmania restaurant which offers grilled ribs yum yum
the serenity of ziarat in april 2002 as i watched 2 hawks soar above me...
the eerieness of hazarganji chiltan national park that novem, ber 2004...just before it rained, the golden vegetation, the large eagle soaring above , the wind, being there in the evening
the drive to swat over the malakand pass, into the lush green valley with swat canal at the side
the endless pine clad hills in the galiyat...and the smell of pine trees in muree ealry morning
the boat taking me to the cente of kheenjar lake - wat appeared to be miles away from land ....
the view of multans and the ghantagar .....it always sticks in my mind!
oh well ...so many memories.....i ll stop now lol
