If i have to choose one, i will go for Makeup
Photography will take care of itself, there are photo touch ups, editing options available and one is usually familiar with good poses seeing a lot of pictures here :D

you cant compare two.. the most expensive bridal makeup that i have heard is 600
and wedding photography is way more expensive than that.

Neither! both are rip offs!! got my best friend to do my make up, and did not have a proffesional photographer and no regrets!!

If your makeup is good...your pictures WILL turn out good no matter who takes them.

If the photographer is good...your pictures will turn out good no matter who does your makeup.

based on this reasoning I'd say make-up because you want to look good in person on the day too, not just in photographs. If your make-up wasn't great but it came out nice in the photos, chances are your guests on the day would remember the bad make-up!!

I don't think that's true. Bad lighting, flash, angles etc, can make you look bad, even if you looked good on that day. I think it's easier to look good on the day of than to have good photographs.

Plus photographs aren't just a basic image of the event. There is an artistry to capture the moment that not just anyone can convey.

i agree. i would, and did, spend more on photography... but also like someone else here said, they're not comparable costs unless you're flying in a celebrity hair & mua from hollywood. photography is more like $2500-$3000+ easily whereas makeup is usually around $400-$500.

would you spend more on photography or your clothes? maybe thats a more fair question?
