What would you do?

What would you do if you found out your mother/father/good friend/child/partner (any close loved one) is involved in some sort of illegal practises?

Illegal practises could be anything, from money fraude to even involvement in a murder case?

In what way would this knowledge change your relationship with that person?

Re: What would you do?

i would “talk” to them but wont report to the authorities. i aint never goan be a snitch mayn, nomesayin?

Re: What would you do?

Impossible to answer.

Re: What would you do?

Why is it impossible to answer? Ofcourse you never know how you will really react when it actually happens, because talking is easier than actually doing.

But you know yourself, so you can give an indication what you would do.

Re: What would you do?

Wow. This is a tough one. I guess it would depend on the nature of the “crime”. I have a family member (first cousin) who lies/cheats the system to get government assisted healthcare for her children even though her husband makes like $95K a year…it definitely changes my opinion about her, I don’t approve of her bragging on the topic either and i’ve let her know that i find it it disgusting..in fact, our whole khandaan looks down upon her for it, including her own mother, but have I “alerted” the authorities…no.

Now, if I had first hand knowledge of a severe crime (murder, rape, etc) I don’t think that I would be able to remain silent.

Re: What would you do?

Why would you brag and tell everyone about it? :smack:

So it depends on the severity of the crime.

Would you report it right away or first talk to the person?

Re: What would you do?

Le Pakistan: i dont judge my friends or family member. if they were good enough to be my friend before i learned of their objectionable deed, they are still good enough to be my friend. As far as family is concerned, that relationship is cannot change can it? A father is still going to be father even if he was a killer. Refer back to post #2

Re: What would you do?

Acchi ji :k: thanks for honest answer.

Re: What would you do?

Yes its all about honest answer, not politically or morally or ethically acceptable answer. What would you actually do in a situation like this rather than what you would want others to know what you would do.

Re: What would you do?

Nothing.

Re: What would you do?

I would take action if I came to know a certain person I know is a sexual molestor/ child abuser.

And no matter what relation the person would have with me, I would lose respect :s

Re: What would you do?

Double negative.

Re: What would you do?

Based on last sentence, I am quite sure I wont do anything. Cant imagine turning them in.

My opinion about them - how that would change? Depends on what they did. But most probably they would lose my respect.

Hope the day never comes.

Re: What would you do?

Correct! The hazards of typing on a phone :smack:

Re: What would you do?

Call 911.

Re: What would you do?

mother/father:

  • i would show my disapproval but definitely not turn them in, but I may expect them to discontinue or turn themselves in

haan if it was murder or rape shudder I would turn them in

partner:

  • I would show my disapproval if he continues down that path then I would have to think about doing whatever is best for my children
and once again if it was murder or rape shudder I would turn them in

child:
-I cannot say what I would do in this situation …i’ve seen all kinds of moms some who never turn their kids in even if they continue down the path of crime and some who do because the kids continue
I think I would show my disapproval and hope they discontinue down that road but if the crime was something severe I would have to turn them in …though i am sure it would kill me to do so

with severe crimes you just cant remain silent

Re: What would you do?

Assuming its my mother/father/husband/future child/best friend, the ONLY time I would turn them in is if the crime involves child abuse. Otherwise, I would just make sure they (and I) have the number of a GOOD criminal defense lawyer on speed dial, and that they’re aware of their legal rights in the event of an arrest.

As for how my opinion would change…it depends on the specific crime and details of the crime. For example, in the event of a murder…it would depend on the circumstances. Did they murder just for joy? Was it an accident? Or did they do it out of revenge?

Re: What would you do?

Of course I’ll be extremely pissed at them. How can they even think of doing anything illegal behind my back… while I am already so good at it they haven’t realized it since decades.

This is bad. And because its now a leaking info, i’ll have to kill people to leave no trace and help them out. Yeah yeah i know what u guys are thinking, they are just clueless bunch of brats aren’t they. Yes i Agree…

Really bad.

Re: What would you do?

If it was serious and harming/hurting another a person yes I’d take action.. the relationship woud not make a difference to me..

I couldn’t handle being responsible for someone suffering by turning a blind eye and letting it carry on..
