Depends on the guy.

If its a builder I usually say hello as believe it or not, builders dont have much of a vocab, so a wolf whistle is just their way of saying hello.

If hes fit, I tend to say hello too and then they are stunned into silence which is pretty cool to watch.

If hes fugly I stare at him in disgust and tell him to naff off!

My reasoning is simple: Why is he whistling? Does he expect me to come running with a toy in my mouth? If he is THAT interested, he'd come and talk to me.

Also, what if I say hello and the person responds? Now Im stuck having a conversation with a whistler?

Trust me, they never want to have a conversation. And even if they do, so what. If they look rich...talk away!

Either whistle right back (i'm an expert wolf whistler myself), say hello, how r u doing?, or walk on and ignore, depending on the circumstances.

I usually find the first 2 options causes a stunned silence and a humble muttering of hello back.
