If i were in ur situation, i might have cleared up the things to the guy. there shouldnt be any fear bringing out the truth. What you think of their match is not the concern. When the gurl herself backed out it tells that things were not going to click between the guys. Now donot escape from it. DO give it a talk next time he wants it, and make the things clear to him. This being quiet must be rather frustrating for him. I feel he needs your sympathies. Tell him in balanced and carefully selected words that maybe the guys were not meant for each other. And do clear your position in all of this mess aswell. Otherwise it will be a depression for urself also.
