I don't know why but I have an uncomfortable feeling when ppl share plates it just seems weird. Like me and my husband if we want to share something we still have our own plates in front of us, esp when we are around other ppl. If he wants something from my plate he will take it, but that is not as noticable as just having one plate in the middle while every one has their own.....
