What would you do if you were told you're dying?

sorry to hear that. :flower1:

now ab ap parho dobara and samjho what I said.

I agree with Shirin. I think that I am changing as I grow older too. I am becoming more and more tolerant of certain things.

I do, however, believe that times are more harsh than they used to be.

Maybe it's because of all the people that have passed away in recent times, I've also learned the importance of asking for forgiveness.

I'd try to get extract gifts and favours out of people.

Muzna, could you explain this better to me? Thanks!

I'd go and do everything I was told not to do!

I would ask my parents to send me to makkah and madinah :)

^^ Yeah, what she said.

I guess what I'm trying to say Shirin is that decades ago, when our parents were young, the world was not as materialistically driven as it is now. The ratio of people that placed a higher value on principles was greater than it is today.

The majority today places a great deal of emphasis on status and finances rather than just being a good person and being happy in that.

Dying on a bed has this mercy stigma with it, a bed brings a realization of loss - you've lost to life and soon it'll be over. As absurd as it sounds, a bullet to the head, a car accident, or a parachute jump gone wrong means so much more. It brings with it victory, not resting on a bed till the second come and then hours of tears.

I'd like to be known as someone that died doing something, not giving up...but again, I wouldnt tell anyone I'm going to die :)

hskhan you have gone crazy.

And why wouldnt you want anyone to know?

Yes Muzna, I agree, it seems like the more there is the more we need. What a paradox! Things have become our gods and people are way down on our priority lists. People have more material goods than ever but they are generally less happy, more depressed and cynical.

But at some point of our lives we realize that we can't live forever and some of us who truly belive that there is something else coming after we have left this world start thinking about non material matters. Even those who don't believe start wondering....

That's not to say that all people are wicked and become good when they realize they will die some day! But I do think, generally, that money plays a huge part in our decisions and people's feelings are less and less important.
