What do you think are the most important things all guys/gals should have to have a long lasting marriage or relationship?

patience, of which i have none. but yes, patience, patience at him watching cricket all day, playstation all weekend and then trying to resist the urge not to kill him when you spend half an hour watching desperate housewives and he moans his head off....:]

Well from both-- commitment. Hubby and I argue quiet a bit as we are both very different from each other but at the end of the argument we realize that we have to live with each other therefore we need to work the issue out. Secondly, i think you have to keep your marriage healthy by communicating and keep yourself attractive for your spouse :)

love, compromise, understanding, communication, trust, and i believe (really) trusting in God and be honest to both yourself and him/her

Tolerance, open communication (in some matters), ability to count to 100 without exploding, sometimes the ability to keep your mouth shut 
, saying haan jeen haan jee when the other person is in a bad mood, making each other laugh, strong sense of commitment and finally showing your care and appreciation.
And yes, most important of all, physical compatibility
