Its a good example but I guess there also should be a difference between telling the truth and 'hum to maasoom dil hain, jo dil main ho wohi zuban pe' attitude. Point is, telling lie should not be mixed with good people skills. Latter is highly encouraged even in Islam.

Is not saying anything at all (pleading the 5th) still lying? People would have pretty one-sided conversations if I was prevented from giving them a tactful response to questions I'd rather not respond to.

and If some one ask me a question and I dont want to answer it or I feel it will hurt !!
I just tell them don't ask me this question OR do u want me to lie..
