Most of the SUVs are either 6 or 8 cylinders these days, while minivans are still coming in 4 cylinders, while some are 6 cylinders. So no doubt MVs are more economical.
However, SUVs are cool not only in driving but also due to their sporty look. I would go for SUV :biggthumb
