What would you buy?

awwwwwwwwwww u r toooooo sweet :D

Most of the SUVs are either 6 or 8 cylinders these days, while minivans are still coming in 4 cylinders, while some are 6 cylinders. So no doubt MVs are more economical.

However, SUVs are cool not only in driving but also due to their sporty look. I would go for SUV :biggthumb

Re: What would you buy?

whats the difference?

Re: What would you buy?

MV could have more utility for a family with 3+ kids but who on earth will pick a mini van over an SUV? A few reasons why I would go with an SUV:

  • They look cool, and compared to a mini van, they look super cool
  • You can drive through all terrains
  • More robust
  • A mini van will always give way to an SUV, I don't see it happening the other way around. It is what you see in your rear view mirror.
  • SUV's are more powerful, you can tow stuff or help your neighbor pull their mini van out of a puddle of mud
  • SUV's are better in worse weather conditions
  • You can always adjust the back seats if you need more cargo space

The only advantage of a mini van is fuel efficiency, which is the key to their survival. Imagine what would you do to a mini van which consumes as much fuel as an SUV?

couldn't have put it any better myself.

SUV all the way, they tend to be easier to fix as well, as a mechanic i should know minivans tend to have too much wiring anyway SUV's are more rugged and last longer, much longer.

The giving wway thing is sooooo true…I had this theory in my head…and told my friends to..that Minivan drivers are just so much kinder when it comes to giving way to merge etc.
And all the other observations are true too.

One thing I would add…Personally I wouldn’t get a Minivan…but they are oh so comfortable. I spent a few days in a friend’s Van…driving not sleeping in it:D
But really its like a living room on wheels…I sat in the middle back seat…it had so much leg room for even me…(though I just used the middle of the front two seats to stretch my legs)

and the kids were sooo comfortable too…the mom/dad is like a chauffer…has not a lot of say in whats going on back there…they seem so far away from it all…It was just sooo comfortable.

Getting in and out was easier for the kids…I couldnt say it for myself though…it was terrible for me.

Another thing was the …did I mention it was sooo comfortable:D…okay I guess this is it for me

Oh and It doesn’t have the rollover safety issue like in SUV’s

SUV’s is more rugged…but seriously …how many times has anyone here gone offroading in their SUV?? Tell tell:faizy: I certainly havent…the most I 've done is park on grass when the parking lot is too full:D

for those of you who are confused, take this quiz ..

SUV Or Minivan? - Forbes.com

Re: What would you buy?

actually we hav both.hubby has chevy tahoe 8 seater n i hav nissan quest 7 seater n i love the van with kids esp on long trips.the van is more spacious.it has two quad seats in the middle row making passage easy plus u can put one carseat on each side.sliding doors r another piece of mind.however in tahoe kids hav to jump back n forth in order to come out n if they sit together the carseats make it really tight.another thing the minivan has more trunk space for a stroller, extra jackets, grocerry etc than a regular SUV.haan luxury ones hav larger trunks.
there was a time i used to hate minivans but once i bought it now i realize how convinient it could be for larger families.

Well said SUVSSSSSSS all the way

Re: What would you buy?

Is the Porsche Caynne classified as an SUV?? :hmmm:

I drive that, and i have 2 girls… but it’s so big, heavy and unecessary, but the hubby insists i drive it cos we have kids… i don’t understand his logic… anyone care to enlighten me?? :hmmm:

I’d be happy with any little european car… :hinna:

Re: What would you buy?

^ My other half has a Cayenne turbo as well, quite practical as I only have a 2-seater and his other car is a 2-seater as well :)

Don't some men prefer their wives if they have kids to drive an suv cos it's safer? Where I live it's almost obligatory for the wife to drive a Range Rover, they're pretty nice as well..

Re: What would you buy?

^ so Deeba, you’re definitely a Londoner like me… i’m apparantly one of those ‘Gas Guzzler Driving Moms’ that are hated by environmentalists… :hehe:

Ever had a ‘strongly worded’ post-it stuck on your windscreen? :hmmm:

Re: What would you buy?

In my opinion Cayenne is a rich man's toy, a rather delicate and quite expensive machine which resembles an SUV. When I say SUV, I mean a real SUV.

Speaking of sport utility, a humble land cruiser or a nissan patrol can kick a cayenne's ass all the way through sand and mud. And a cherokee SRT8 can, again, kick a cayenne's ass all the way on a highway. Range rover is another true SUV.

Cayenne's and Q7's, although, are a good fit for rich soccer mommies.
