Why wouldn't anyone believe you if you share your perspective clearly with logical reasoning, without hiding "anything". I am sure you would be able to convince them in looking at the matter the way you are looking at it. There is also a possibility that your perspective might be wrong and they might correct you. In other words you might not be aware of the other side of the picture. I believe that sincerely sharing everything you know wouldn't hurt them as I am sure they would understand your intentions.
Also we can "Never" say that they wouldn't be able to do anything even if they come to know about it, everything is in the power of Allah and the last hope of a muslim is "DUA" (prayers) which is always useful even in the worst situations
