In terms of fashion ideas here, I would def say desi clothes with a western twist would go down very well, like evening dresses with kaam on them that could be worn for a work function, or jeans with beaded motifs, or kurta tops that can be worn over jeans/trousers ...

My mother went on trip like you noorie, and best thing she sold was Sarees, Kashmiri sarees. and Pashmina Shawls.
Actually depends where you heading to and what kind people your host move in, My aunt lived in Long Island and all her freinds were really well off. While my second Aunt lived in LA wit not may Desi friends so mom did not do well.
You know what some ladies charge money ie. commission and call their friends over for an exhibition, where they act as host and provide food etc.
If possible try to buy good on consigment basis i.e. shop keepers who are ready to back unsold goods

The problem is that Im just planning on doing this because a few friends of mine have requested it and they live in US/UK. So while I'm at it i thought why not make some more and see if anyone's interested...I wont have time to do once my college starts or rather in this manner at all, although i must say it is a very good suggestion :)

Best of luck Noorie, Well some one came to us from USA , they had two white american females with them We made lots of stuff for them. They went back to Idaho and placed more order with us, as they wanted to do small business, my contribution in this whole exercise was simply to find designs that would great.
I searched for American designers onn net, as if you american sitcoms you tend to see females wearing Kurtis or Tunics as american call them.
We made these Kurtis and they were quite a hit and now we are supposed to send the third order.
Try searching for Tory Burch, she is a great designer. Most tunics were on cotton and with minimum work ( i guess even simple work is too much for american). Another person's whose clothes are stylish are this designer in uk some Hassan or something.
