If you lived in the boonies (like a lot of desis whos parents or spouses are doctors ) do and you had no contact to send you clothes of your choice from pakistan/india and your only resort was shopping online via catalog on on TV like QVC or Home shopping Network , what would help you buy.
- Beautiful super models (iman, neha , iraj etc) who are super thin and look great in almost any shoot.
- More real figured models (with more curves than bones and not the perfect size 6) who are attractive and look more like us.
- Mannequins wearing the clothes (So there is no comparison with any human form)
- Floating clothes like the one below?

- None of the above… (Give your suggestion please)
Re: What works for you
but i dont know..i always have to try stuff on, i am jsut like that..i have to see how it looks on ME and i am like short and fat so alot of stuff doenst look good on me
Re: What works for you
Im short 5'2 and very petite like size 2 in girls sizing, so most of the stuff out there is too big on my shoulders even if i take in the bust and all
:(
Its amazing how we all are so different in physiques, i was whining when all of you were enjoying the joke on small busts in the what is in thread.. man even those are huge compared to me.... but no complaints
Re: What works for you
^ aww its ok...all of us like all my friends are all weird sizes, well they are really small and stuff while i am short but busty so yea none of us ever find anything
Re: What works for you
I cant order desi clothes online, im very picky about the fit and i rathar try and buy. If i must, i would want it on real women ..
Re: What works for you
I know i know, but the case presented was if those were not options cause we are in the midst of no where... but i see we all like the real women theme...
Re: What works for you
Same here. I’d want to try it on myself before buying it. But of the choices above, I’d go with 2 as well. I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything out of a catalogue or a website. A couple of times I’ve seen the same outfit in a catalogue and then compared it to what was there in the store…and there was an obvious difference. No matter how good a picture is (quality wise), it’s not the same as seeing it yourself or trying it on.
manomano, I’m half an inch taller than you.
I know what you mean about outfits that don’t fit.
Re: What works for you
What about private exhibitions or trunk shows where a select group is invited for high tea and a preview and sale of the latest pieces... I used to think it was pompous but lets see what u think?
Re: What works for you
Everyone has different body structures. Something that looks amazing on someone else might look horrid on me. I don't know. Sort of like you have to see it to believe it.... I have to try it to buy it.
Re: What works for you
On the return from the mehndi last night i caught an episode of how to i look on TLC. It was about this girl who cut up designer wear to make it small and skimpy and that is all she wore, next to nothing. The task was to dress her down, they called her a person who took gucci and turned it into hoochie. hee hee
I didnt like her makeover cause her hair was very puffy and 80's in the end, but it was interesting that one of the blouses that she was go give away, she said she paid $1500 for it, then cut it to make it a dress....
Wonder what its like to throw that kind of money on a shirt :)
I guess, that certainly doesnt work for me.
