The Supreme Court of Pakistan took an action on this new term for LOOTING “Carbon Tax” and issued a stay order on it, this brought down the prices of Petrol and diesel, the Prime minister issues a healthy statement saying that they will present their case in front of SC and try to justify the carbon tax…
But as usual they did exactly the opposite of their claim, they issued an ordinance to implement the carbon tax!!! Me and other common Pakistanies who are surviving on daily basis and paying for the petrol and energy cost for this heavy cabinet only understand the numbers, Supreme court tried to give us relieve but the TOLA of peer + wadera cannot afford to see any relief to the common man…
Now i guess this ordinance can be challenged! what is govt. looking forward to?? a total disaster for their political career… somebody said it right… Zia tried and failed, Mushy tried and failed, but zardari have done it.. he can do what the two dictator couldn’t do in their rule of 9+9 years…
Zardari can issue an ordinance to implement carbon tax and according to the news he already have done it, now he can only do it on the advice of the Prime minister.. which i guess was issued!!!
Now i fear that the either CJ will take action by himself or somebody might challenge this ordinance in SC, in either case Zardari will loose face and credibility... i don't know who is his adviser and why can't zardari see the possible reaction...
Zardari is going to face humilation and he is destroying PPPP with his foolishness... I am sure his MNAs etc will run from media as they ran on the issue of CJ...
I wonder what was stopping him from reinstating the illegally deposed CJ through this presidential ordinance which he now used so promptly to save his skin. Zardari is an ignorant crook, and he probably doesn't even know what a carbon tax is levied for in the first place. Maybe hes trying to tax all the carbon soot that has accumulated on altaf's manhoos boothi.
What PPP govt is doing is a great way thing by gradually getting rid of Govt subsidies and it would pay off in long term. No one here said that inflation has dramatically come down from 24 % to 14 % as it is now! Presidential and PM expenditures have already been cut to half..
In third world countries major revenue generation for Govts is by petroleum prices... in return it gives subsidies in elecricity and agriculture... This 144 billion rupees in gasoline price revenues needs to be adjusted somewhere..
^^ Cutting down subsidies is good step but govt need to show us that they are using ou tax money in right way, now the scence is something like this
PPPP govt have increased the price of utility bills and there is n electricity ( which result in the short fall of water as well) so preception is, people are paying more bills then they use to and at same time their jobs and lives are at stake are these power cuts have hitted the business & industry...
The Govt imposed the carbon tax in wrong way, i saw Shokat Tareen saying this on geo... now why did the govt do not do their homework before having such decision in place...
If supreme court has done something, then govt should have waited and adopted the right procedures to introduce this Levy... now govt does have given the impression that they are in kind of state-of-war with Judiciary and like Pervaiz Mushraf theyare trying to find these kind of means to create yet another crisis in the country

the way PPPP is going and running the govt ( starting crisis after crisis, knowing that we are oin crisis) i don't think so we have to wait for 4 years...

Supreme court should not take these administrative cases, these issues should be discussed in parliament and decided there.

just look at the recent events, PPPP re-instated the CJ and yet was not able to get the credit, would that have been possible if PPPP had wise leadership

PPP is doing fine. Don't worry. CJ was forced to be re-instated; perhaps PPP would not have re-instated him at their own will. Historically it has always been the army and Uncle Sam calling the shots when ever major decisions are involved. Only one exception of ZAB's era where he was independent in decision making in the history of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: The government announced on Sunday a special campaign against those involved in spreading “propaganda” against senior government officials through emails and text messages.
Launched on the directions of Interior Minister Rehman Malik, the campaign seeks to curtail the growing number of emails and text messages questioning the leadership of the government. A press release issued by the Interior Ministry stated a similar campaign had also been initiated against proscribed organisations that were using the Internet to spread malicious propaganda against the country’s security forces.
Under the campaign, the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been instructed to monitor and check the spread of any malicious stories or messages regarding the country’s civilian leadership and take necessary action under the Cyber Crimes Act. Violators can be imprisoned for up to 14 years and any overseas Pakistanis can be charged under the act and their extradition sought. The government has also requested Interpol to identify the owners of any email addresses and websites registered abroad that spread such messages.
According to the press release, the servers of all Internet Service Providers shall be checked physically by the FIA on a daily basis to check the spread of such material. staff report
