What will it take to shake/strengthen your belief in God? (merged)

Re: What will it take to shake/strengthen your belief in God? (merged)

Why are you not referencing the folklores. They must have had some information as to why “They are not accurate”, or how the “guidelines are not prescribed by the Creator”. Where are those folklores or it’s another one of your empty rhetorics ?

Don't dodge my question. They are simple. Answer them in post #100.

To answer your questions

They are detailed in the Quran.
The guidelines are accurate because muslims 'believe' in the person who delivered the message.
Again, the believer puts his trust in the message hence the creator.
The creator is in the soul of a newborn.

It's just a matter of how where you put your faith. It could be in a scripture or a scientific model. Either way you are trusting in one of the two.

Fayz,

I know these answers. But other than 'faith', there is nothing else corroborating them.

LI your arguments are so vague and wishy washy :chai:

Quran works on a simple psychology. It makes faith a prerequisite for understanding. For a muslim, facts are derived from faith. And faith is acquired from within.

:bism:

[002.001] Alif. Lam. Mim.

[002.002] This is the Book; whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who fear Allah;

[002.003] Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;

[002.004] And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee (Muhammad), and sent before thy time, and they carry asssurance of the hereafter.

[002.005] They are on (true) guidance, from their Lord, and it is these who are the successful.

[002.006] As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.

[002.007] Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur).

[002.008] Of the people there are some who say: “We believe in Allah and the Last Day;” but they *do not *(really) believe.

[002.009] Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realise (it) not!

[002.010] In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).

[002.011] When it is said to them: “Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “Why, we only Want to make peace!”

[002.012] Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realise (it) not.

[002.013] When it is said to them: “Believe as the others believe:” They say: “Shall we believe as the fools believe?” Nay, of a surety they are the fools, but they do not know.

If you wish to have the words of Allah I suggest you attempt to establish a direct channel with him. Let me know what He tells you (but I will require proof and facts and figures…)

You misunderstood me, you can choose to remain that way, or you can parse through this: Culture plays a role in shaping our preconceptions of morality and immorality. If your a Muslim they are only desirable preconceptions if they allow you to remain within the confines of religion.

In the case of promiscuous sex my cultural attitudes are in line with a subset of religious rules about sex. Within those rules I can satisfy both my cultural and religious attitudes.

Thus when you asked me to provide the justification for prohibition of illicit sex I gave you answers based on my cultural attitudes, with the caveat that these attitudes have nothing to do with religion, but with how I feel. I dont live by the complete set of rules about sex in the religion, because Islam often offers a great deal of flexibility within which culture and upbringing can shape your choices.

Correct, thus the striving to find people who did recieve a direct transmission from Allah.

There’s nothing to Dodge about. I was expecting counter responses based on some sort of apprehension or reasoning to say the least. Only thing you can come up with is to twist my words and form it into a question - I am guessing that’s the best you can do - hence I call it End of Discussion
