What was Salman Butt thinking

Re: What was Salman Butt thinking

And it is not just swinging conditions, give them a pacy wicket like Perth and they are all at sea

I remember the 2004 Perth test. we were shot out for a paltry 72 in the second innings with Inzi and the two Ys in the side

Okay, our strength is not fielding, not batting… and now bowling isn’t our strength either :bummer:

try reading what is posted before making comments. The thread is about his decision to bat not his non existent batting. I am sure many teams with glittering stars have fallen against weak opponents, remember the powerful Windies losing to Kenya in world cup in India. So these arguments are not valid. You cant rubbish Inzi, yousef, Younis and other players for a few collapses and ignore their many contributions. Keep things in perspective.

Re: What was Salman Butt thinking

Agreed

But as good as Inzi and the two Ys were as batsmen, I believe that our batting had more spine when Miandad and Imran were around. Those guys were mentally very tough and they took great pride in themselves.

Re: What was Salman Butt thinking

Miandad yes, Imran was only good batsmen towards the fag end of his career and lets not forget people like Zaheer, Majid, wasim raja, Mushtaq, etc. Imran used to win matches because he had batsmen who could bat against any type of bowling, plus his leadership. Zaheer got two double centuries in England

Re: What was Salman Butt thinking

Yousuf Got 202 n 192 in last England's tour too

If Yousuf gets a 50 even in the next 2 tests he plays Ill shave of my head. He wont even pass 20!

Would you like to post your pic here now so we can hold you to it.

If Salman had chose to bat second, and English batsmen had amassed a big score, you'll be the first guy on this forum to bash Butt and his negative tactics to bat second. Do you really think Pakistani batsmen can chase even a paltry total against Anderson and Co. batting second? SO the decision to bat first was not as absurd as you are making it out to be! The pitch is not unplayable and looked pretty dry before the game as Nasser Hussain pointed out while showing the pitch map. We all know how much you despise Salman Butt from the beginning, but lets not get carried away with nonsense!

I am not the one trying to rubbish great players like Inzi, yousef and Younis just to protect Salman, so lets not get carried away with nonsense.

Re: What was Salman Butt thinking

bicharey bowlers....not only do they need to bowl well, it looks like theyl be batting as well.....

and shoib malik.....is he still on honeymoon with his indian bride, he looks baffled with a cricket bat in his hand, surely he should be in bollywood.

Re: What was Salman Butt thinking

eh well seems like you have no idea about Pakistani Cricket. Just looking at the final score and making the statements isnt anything informative.
