what was `jahez` traditionally meant for...

is it meant for the woman or for the couple. or what?

Re: what was jahez traditionally meant for...

the jewelery, was meant for the woman..so if she (or the husband etc) ever fell back on hard times she could sell her gold to get by.

outfits, well duh, to look good. and furniture, i suppose if she brings her own things into her "new" home it would feel more like a home t her..as opposed to coming into a house that already has everything set.

Jahaiz was originally meant to raise a woman's esteem and regard while she moves out of her parents' abode to a stranger's. It's also meant to give her a sense of comfort and ownership - at least for the things she would need to use on a regular basis.
