What Type Of Water We May Use

For ablution (wudu/Ghusal) purpose?

1- Mutlaq Water?
2- Used Water?
3- Water that is mixed with something pure?
4- Water which is mixed with something impure?

For ablution (wudu/Ghusal) purpose?

**1- Mutlaq Water?
**As long as there are no signs of impurity in it it should be used. For example if snow or rain contains something from the ground or air which makes it impure then its not allowed but generally it is pure.

**2- Used Water?

**Well the used water should not be considered for the Purifying oneself. The only exception was the Prophet Muhammad as his used water ***from Wudu ***to be used by his companions.

As a General rulling this type of water is not allowed for Wudu.

3- Water that is mixed with something pure?

For Wudu have not seen or read that this is the practice to mix anything in the water purposely but if you refer to some other substance, If the taste, color and smell does not overcome the water itself it is allowed.

**4- Water which is mixed with something impure?

**This depends on what kind of impurity is mixed and what type of water it is.

As a general rulling if it is running water and taste, color and smell does not change then it will be considered as pure water for example stream river where human and animal waste is also mixed but if you know that something is mixed right in front of you then you better choose a diiferent spot or up or down stream where it is sure that water has overcome the impurity.

The other type is that if the water is gathered in a pot or in a pond then the minimum amount of water according to Imams is one hand deep and 10 x 10 hand square pond can be considered pure for minor impurities. like Animal (Other than dog and pig) or Human drank from it or washed themself in it. But if there is visiable impurity like human and animal waste in it then it should not be used.
