I wore a pale pink sari to an American wedding. Everyone liked it and it didn't seem out of place. i think if you wear really bold colors or heavy kaam, then it will look weird. But a sari in a light color with light kaam will look appropriate.
I've been told no pants, though I think there's more flexibility nowadays.
i think thats somewhat of an old-fashioned rule, no? if the pants/suit/top you are wearing are dressy enough for the occasion, i see no harm in wearing them! :p
Hi I am goree - I am having a mixed wedding but even if I was nt I would certainly not be negative towards anyone wearing asian outfits- in fact I would love it esp for the photographs.
I been to lots of white weddings in the Uk ( so not in the US) and many people wear their traditional clothes. For someone to be is offended coz you are wearing your traditional outfit I think they would be extremely strange.
Obviously you would not wear a heavy, bridal-style outfit but a simpler lengha or a saree should be fine.
If it says no dresscode than you should be able to wear anything. However it might also depend on the type of people they are, some take it for granted that all ladies wear long gowns or hats or whatever.
