What to wear when travelling.....?

which airline?

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

yeh I was wondering too coz i remember I went on emirates and was dressed casually and in first class and no one asked me to change clothes or be more formal and stuff ...

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

^its a policy with all airlines. but i wouldnt be surprised if PIA is very lenient with it. my mom just went with Etihad and yeh... they definitely follow the rule.

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

skirts, jeans, shalwar kameez, dresses....anything, but it has to look shareef

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

i dress up for air travel...i hate looking like i just got out of bed like rest of the travelers..americans think if they are traveling by air (even if its a 45 min flight) they must look like a hobo... seriously!
dress up..slacks/dress/coat/boots...heels..etc..you look good..and you get treated right!

if traveling to pak, change during your connecting flight into a nice shalwar kameez.

oh well I guess they didnt care coz i was wearing abaya then... abaya with slippers.. i will ask my dad about this policy coz this is the first time i am hearing about this

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

i agree with chanda (Y)

ooh, i usually go by emirates, they didn't seem to care about my spongebob pjs.. haha.. i guess i'll be avoiding etihad.

Theres no dress code in first class but there is in business.

then u got lucky haha cuz my sister traveled business class in emirates a few yrs ago and they made her change her clothes, she was wearing jeans, tshirt and flip flops. she had to change out of everything.

Air France also follows that policy strictly.

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

I can understand why though.. makes sense.

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

last time i went i was wearing sweats, tee and sneaks. next time around it'll defintely be shalwar kameez.

i went in etihad bussniess..and dey said nothing to me.. i was wearing shalwar kamizz..

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

n later i remember the hostess greeting us at the front gate chnged into track pants..lol but changed back wen landing

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

i always wore shalwar kameez.... sometimes when I go to drop my parents off at the airport, i see people waiting online decked out as if they're going to a wedding...its the stupidest thing i've ever seen..

if i go this time ill probably wear sweats or something..and change into a nice cotton/lawn outfit later.

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

yeh thats what I was wondering tooo.. marvi! this is the first time i am hearing about this policy :) i have been travelling frmo ages in business and first class and never did I see this kind of thing. infact there are sometimes very casually dressed people sitting there.
well i will find out when i go to pakistan day after tomorrow. i will dress in the worst possible way and very casual lol

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

Yeah, the staring happens regardless. I wore jeans, a long chiffon frock-type tunic/ dress thing and a cardigan (wasn't used to dupattas/ scarves) but I was still covered head to toe. The people still stare. Even when I was fully pakified with shalwar kameezes and chadars in markets, still got stared. I think people can just tell you're not a local regrdless. On my way back, I wore a cotton tunic thing over slacks......worst experience ever bc my flight was super long (direct!) and everything got wrinkled and clammy. To top it off, I had a super long dupatta that I wore back and it was a pain to carry it on top of lugging my luggage!

Best case scenario is to just pack some fresh clothes to change in at the airport!

Yeah, I've dressed really really casual and never had any problems on Emirates or BA first + business class. Usually I just wear Juicy terry bottoms and a loose long sleeved top, my Mum hates me dressing down tho, she always moans at me about it :(

Re: What to wear when travelling…?

Deeba, yeah I have worn a juicy couture track suit once to Pakistan and was in first class, that was before I had started to wear the abaya though. My mom hates it too, even with me wearing abaya. Most of the times I look shabby and not well dressed coz I am casual about it. :cb:

It’s the university influence I guess…

Re: What to wear when travelling.....?

jus regular salwar kameez and yeh wenever i went to pk i always saw girls at the airport fulllu decked up :D each to their own i gues
