im not sure where to post this topic,so here goes..
we have just had a few lehngas stitched from pakistan for my cousins,n the tailors have stitched something in-between a shalwar and pajama,to wear beneath the lehnga??so cant u just wear the lehnga like that,it already has lining with it,or r u supposed to wear something extra too??n wat about brides,r they to wear something additional too??

Only reason I can think of for someone wanting to wear something under is because of heavy kaam and bad (or none) lining. other than that, you don't have to wear anything.

In Pakistan, traditionally you are supposed to wear a pajama under the lehnga. It is usually stitched from the same satin as the lining of the actual lehnga.

wear whatever else you wear when you put on a regular skirt.
if i know i'll be dancing i wear leggings under the lengha bc i don't want to fully expose my legs...
if i am not, and i'll be in a mermaid cut (it's fitted so it shouldn't be flying up) i don't wear anything underneath.
However if I am going to be on a stage with bright lights i always make sure to wear a nude tank and nude leggings or panty hose just incase things try to get see-through. I can't tell you how many times that's happened.
but for the most part you should be fine without the pants.

i jus went to a a cuzns weddin last month an i wore a skirt suit an underneath i wore leggins and the reason was that it was really itchy

The kaam off your lehnga can be very annoying since often it's sharp and irritates your skin. I'd wear loose leggings so you're not burning under all that heavy kaam. There are some soft cotton ones out there that aren't so tight and uncomfortable.

oh thanks guys..hmm..i think ill need to try on the lehnga again,cant remember if it was itchy or not...but i hate the idea of wearing something extra...

Or you could wear plain leg warmers that would cover you knee and down and that way you won't be burning hot. Obviously your leg-warmers should be those light cotton ones that go down till your ankles since that's usually the first place the kaam gets to your skin.
I have never heard of anyone wearing any such stuff under the lehnga, sounds pretty silly actually.
The last time I wore a lehnga was a few years back. I had it made from Karma at my sister's Mehndi and they lined it pretty well so the "kaam" wouldn't scratch me. I danced all night but legs didn't show. So I really don't see why anyone would want to wear pants, unless they wanna spin like a professional dancer and make their lehnga poof up:)

i've never worn anything underneath a lehnga. Or my sari.... which managed to slightly unravel after my uncles walima... ooppss.. :p
