What to wear to a pakistani wedding

Hi i was just invited to my sisters friends wedding i’m not pakistani and i was wondering what i should be suitable for me to wear. Also if there are any traditions in pakistani wedding i should be aware of so that i don’t look silly :stuck_out_tongue: also is it normal for men and women to be seperated or not?

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

Long flowy dresses and in fashion for pakistanis … but you can get away with nearly everything …

how about something like this?

Bridal Couture Week (grande Finale Day 3) | Facebook

its a long gown with embroidery …

as for men and women being separated .. no its not common nowadays but it really depends on the family … on the basis of religious views or comfort (scenarios where women cover up) … they separate the two …

Thanks!

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

Mmm anything long and floaty  like a maxi dress but with sleeves…

also it is normal for men and women to be seperated depending on your religious views (although it is islamically correct) but not everyone does it anymore :frowning:

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

no cleavage, no backless, and no bare legs. other than that, you're good to go!

segregation depends on the family.

if you don't find a traditional pakistani outfit, you can easily wear a maxi dress too.

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

Thats good is it ok to wear a dress longer than knee length but not floor length then or not?

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

is the wedding in pakistan or abroad?
it should be fine abroad but i don't think it would be received well in pakistan.

i should also add avoid off-the-shoulder and spaghetti-strap styles too, if possible, although sleeveless should be fine if the straps are thicker.

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

I’m assuming you’re Arabic. Do you have any fancy Kaftans?

And if you want to go Western, what SGC said was good

I really want both of these:

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

Heh, I'm going to a Morroccan wedding next week and they told us they want us dressed as 'asian' as possible :D

Xmas tree tinsel coming up...!

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

Haha nice example , yeah im arabic. Funnily enough these are worn at home and there usually not worn outside or to parties though even though some of there designs are nice enough to wear outside. But i guess no one at the wedding will probably relise there to be worn at home so why not i guess.

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

its also a good idea, if you are wearing a dress, to bring a shawl or a scarf with you incase you need to cover your arms or head during the dua/prayer at the ceremony

Re: What to wear to a pakistani wedding

Yes i always bring a coat and shawl incase ;)
