Hi girls,
I’m planning to visit Lahore for 3 weeks in Dec (I live in London). Previously, I’ve always travelled in the summer and worn lawn suits. What do people there wear in dec? ie. do the girls wear cardis or jackets on top of their suits during the day and evening? and what kind of shoes do the girls wear with the suits? Surely, they can’t wear chappals and sandals or do they?
Thanks!!
Re: What to wear in Lahore in Dec
During the day, the weather is pretty nice. Suits are made from the heavier winter fabric generally or cotton (linen) for everyday wear. For the night, yep cardis and coats (it can get down to 0ºC or less at the end of Dec/beginning of Jan. Depending on what you're doing or where you're going, you could wear jeans too. As the weather is okay during the day, sandals are fine. In the evening, if you're going out then closed heels or peep toes.
I actually saw a lot of girls wearing those toe socks and sandals (otherwise very fashionably dressed)... personally I couldn't wear that but I guess needs must.
Since you're in London, I would highly recommend going to Uniqlo when the winter season stuff arrives and buy the heat-tech leggings and a vest top. You can wear them under your outfits at night as even with a coat, if you're just wearing regular desi bottoms (shalwar or trousers) you will feel very cold without anything. The heat-teh stuff is very thin but warm.
Re: What to wear in Lahore in Dec
I'm from Lahore so usually whenever we go, we go during the summer and during then Lawn and other light clothing is a must but during the winter months, cardis are really good. I hardly ever wear closed shoes there unless going to a dusty bazaar. Jeans over shirts/kurtas look good, I have seen everyone wearing skinnies w/ tees or kurtas nowadays, esp. during the colder months since trousers/shalwars are not enough. Basically what stoppit said, dont buy winter gear, just Fall-friendly clothing since Lahore never gets THAT cold.

Thanks girls, very helpful. Will stock up on cardis. I have lots of peeptoes so shoes are covered.
Stoppit - will definitely pay uniglo a visit, thanks!
